Today is Dave’s birthday and I’m happily spending it with him up in Canada (Trail, BC—the place of my birth).  Nonna is here and she’s mending from a broken wrist.  I’m giving her lot’s of love and good ju ju, hoping it will help it heal.  It’s been a great trip so far, and I’m trying to soak up as much of this internet free vacation that I can (albeit, we HAD to sneak away to a coffee shop for some wedding planning, pinterest, blog lovin, facebook, skimm…and I snuck a little work in there too).  I’m trying to take a lot of pictures to share in an upcoming post, but I have to be honest it’s been hard taking pictures with my ipad (I lost my iphone and the replacement hasn’t been the best camera).

I wanted to share with you some pictures from the surprise whisky tasting party I threw Dave last weekend for his birthday!!  I was really impressed that I was able to keep it a secret and I have to thank all the friends involved (especially Steve and Marian for transporting the birthday boy).  I couldn’t capture the surprise on camera because my mom and I pretended that we were on our way to dinner to celebrate us completing the rock and roll half marathon earlier that morning.

rock and rollThat was the hardest half that I’ve done, it didn’t have anything to do with the course….but I’ll save that for another post.

The birthday boy was suuuuuper happy.  That may have been influenced by the copious amounts of whisky…

I was pretty proud of my set up!!  Thank goodness for pinterest/wired 🙂

Perhaps the thing Dave was most excited for was the company.

Saving photo taking until the end of the party means that not all friends are included in the pictures #blogger101.

Every piece of food was thought out in regards to how it complemented the whisky, yup my OCD was in full force.

I was proud of our invisible hostess

I can’t thank this lady (my mama) enough, she ran random errands (costco, party supple, ice, etc.) and was definitely a source of humor for the evening.  She also helped me lie to Dave, which I have a HARD time doing!

I’m proud of Dave for everything he’s accomplished in this last year, and I know that his future holds a lot of successful moments.  He’s the most amazing listener, and the best of friends!  I’m so excited to make him my life partner in October and I can’t wait for what our journey holds.  Also, would you look at this baby picture, wasn’t he ADORABUTT!!!!!!!!!!

Be well!
