A few favorites and my week in workouts

The weekend is coming to an end and I’m pretty excited!!  Anyone else as excited as I am??  I’ve also been excited by some other things lately, and I would like to share those with you. now.

1.) My new Mac book air!  Holy crap it’s nice having a computer that goes at a relatively normal pace.  Okay, I’ll admit it, I like my computers like I like the cars to drive around me on the freeway….FAST!  When things don’t go fast mama gets angry, but that’s not the case with this little gem. Thanks Apple, you da best!

2.)  My Nikon 3300.  You may have noticed that the quality of my photos has improved (and if not well then that’s awkward).  It is definitely NOT because my skills have gotten better, it is all due to my amazing new image capturing device, and for that I am STOKED!  I mean obviously I want to become a better photographer, but if improved technology can eliminate the learning process well then bully!

3.) Sasquatch 2015.  Oh. My. I’m so excited for all the bands playing at Samsquantch this year!  I haven’t been since they made the change from single day tickets to all weekend tickets….it was kind of a principal thing; however, I now realize if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em.  Hey I’m not afraid to admit when I was overly opinionated on something (e.g. Uggs in the year 2006), and would like to change my mind.

4.) Our trip to Salish, it was so amazingly relaxing.  Definitely a treat.

5.) My Fitbit Charge.  Can I just tell you how cool the sleep aspect of this thing is?  I’m amazingly restless throughout the night, there’s pretty much nothing I can do about it, but I guess it’s cool to know.

6.) Yumbox.  After visiting Japan Dave and I realized our love for having our food divided into separate compartments (yes, I’m highly concerned for what this might mean for our children).  When I found the yumbox on pinterest I immediately clicked purchase with very little thought, and I’m happy I did.

7.) Cookie Butter Sandwich Cookies.  Okay, you haven’t lived until you have tried speculoos!!!  Well, as of late, TJ’s has been amping up the speculoos game and selling it in a variety of forms.  They have chocolate speculoos cups/bars and speculoos ice cream.  The other day Dave and I saw these little suckers, and just died from how delicious they are!  I feel like if Trader Joe’s ever falls on hard times, they could probably get by just selling speculoos products!

8.) Aerial yoga.  As I mentioned in a previous post, Dave and I took an aerial yoga class and it was phenomenal.  I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend that you check out the studio in Fremont.  I’m already looking into purchasing the ten class pass.

9.) Half marathon training.  My runs have been feeling pretty great lately (I feel like there’s this difficult hump that you have to get over in the beginning with running), so I’m really stoked to amp up the miles and get to 13.1!!!  Really hoping that my performance will live up to the name of the half, Negative Splits.

Now I want to share with you a bit about my training this last week.  Some were hard, some I didn’t want to do, but in the end I’m glad I did them!

Friday: 2 mile run with a big elevation gain (down to the falls and back), can’t believe those hills!

Saturday: Aerial Yoga

Sunday: 5 miles 10:30 pace

Monday: Hot yoga

Tuesday: rest

Wednesday: 2.5 miles with 5 minutes of planks

Thursday: 3 miles (in the rain)

Total mileage: 12.5

Here’s to hoping I can push out the triathlon on Sunday and then 6 miles on Monday 🙂

Be well.

Valentines weekend

Hello!

The weekend is coming to an end and it was so darn fun that I’m already missing it.

The weekend started with a lovely ‘repurposed left overs’ breakfast

Salmon hash close upI love using left overs in new dishes.  For this one I took my smoked salmon hash from the morning before and added an egg and scrambled it up.  At that point does it continue to be a hash? Or is it now reborn as a scramble?  Either way it was delicious.

After seeing a couple private clients I met up with Dave and we headed down to the court house to get the documents to change our names.  Look out “Paolone-Webb” here we come 🙂

After a few stops (currently only the IRS knows us as the Paolone-Webbs), we headed out to Salish lodge.

We decided after the last couple of months we needed a treat, so we got the “Romance atop the falls” package and made sure to get a falls view.  It was the most relaxing evening we’ve had in a while. Bath & Dave.jpgSometimes life gets so crazy you forget to just chill and do nothing together, and after a short run to the falls and back that’s exactly what we did, ALL evening.

We exchanged gifts, but this year we kept it simple (the resort was the real gift)

Dave got me a Groot bobble head.Tyrion.jpgI got Dave a Tyrion Lannister action figure.

Champagna Bath

We decided that when we own a house we will have a bathtub that opens up into our bedroom like this one did, it was GREAT!Champagna glass.jpgI was sad when our stay came to an end, but I was excited to get home and see our boys and for the rest of our valentines celebrations.

I signed us up for an antigravity/aerial yoga partner workshop.  I love that Dave is interested and willing to take yoga classes with me.  He’s taken vinyasa, nedra, hot, acro, and now antigravity/aerial yoga!  I always have fun with him, and I think he’s starting to see the benefits of adding core work/flexibility training to his workout regime.

The best way I can describe the class is a modified acro class, which is so great because we’ve tried acro before (without hammocks), and it’s super hard to get into any of the poses.  The hammock adds the support you need to really get into the poses and then hold them to build the strength.  The individual poses were pretty fun too.

It was also just fun to be cocooned in the hammock like a small child 😛Antigravity yoga.jpgAfter our yoga class we headed to the apple store to get me a new laptop for my business (OMG, I can open an application in less then a minute finally), and I spent the evening getting it ready.  Organizing satisfies something deep down inside of me, so I thoroughly enjoyed this!

This morning we woke up and continued our half marathon training with 5 miles at a 10:30 pace.  I’m trying to focus on getting the distance in right now, and then later I can try and speed things up a bit.  I’m just happy I was able to push out that extra mile.

RunningValentines weekend just wouldn’t be complete without a donut

And then there were none

Altogether an amazing valentines weekend.  It definitely reminded me of the quote “it’s always darkest before the dawn.”  I try to remember during those hard times that there are amazing times just around the corner, but it’s not always easy to do that.  I guess that’s why it’s good to document the good times for future reference.

Be well.
