10 Inexpensive Date Ideas

Outside of really good coffee, I very much dislike spending money.  Wait, let’s clear things up, I love buying things (e.g., clothes, gadgets, etc.); however, I don’t like that I have to use my money in order to do so 😛   One way that we’ve been trying to spend less is by going on dates that are inexpensive.  Sometimes it’s fun to go on those splurge dates (e.g., fancy dinner, theater show), but at the end of the day I find that the most important thing about our dates is the company (it’s pretty much the best when you enjoy spending time together).  So I thought I’d share with you some cheap and fun date ideas.

1.) A night at home cooking – If you don’t want the cost of ingredients to add up go to Supercook and enter the ingredients you have in your fridge/cupboard and it will generate a recipe.  It saves on cost and waste!

2.) Mini golf – Not gonna lie, this took me back to when I was little and it was glorious!!! AND sooo much better than bowling!

3.) Grab a coffee and sit by the water together – Pretty much coffee + anything = a fun date for me!

4.) Go to a local farm, they usually have corn mazes – I guess this is specifically a fall time date, indulge in a caramel apple as well!!

5.) Grab some inexpensive grub at a hole in the wall – This is one of my favorite Seattle Korean places, the bill has never been over $20

6.) Go for a run together – Definitely one of my favorites, it’s nice to find someone that likes to torture/nurture their body just like you do 🙂

7.) Grab a donut together and go for a walk – Again, a donut + pretty much anything = a great date!

8.) Play your favorite card game – Or board game, or video game, just play a game together!

9.) Go for a hike – This is one of my favorites that I don’t do as much as I would like!  There were a ton of great hikes up in the PNW and I hear the same about this area.

10.) Look on the website of local senior centers for a BINGO night – It’s especially fun when you win 😉

**Bonus for dog owners**

11.) (Grab a coffee) and go to the dog park – This is the best weekend morning date!

My friend told me about a really fun ‘date planning’ tactic that her and her partner use.  One week she picks the date that she thinks her partner would like and the next week he picks one that he thinks she will like.  I love that idea because it’s thoughtful and really gets you thinking about the other persons’ desires and interests.  You could use this method when choosing which of the above dates to go on, let me know if you try one out and if you have a good time!

Be well.

Protein Packed Pumpkin Spice Banana Muffins

Hello!  Hope everyone’s had a great Monday so far, and that your weekend was fun and relaxing!  Our’s was filled with (of course) the dog park…

You just really can’t deny this guy what he loves, and what he loves is to arrive at the dog park, wander the perimeter sniffing and eating grass, and ultimately sitting in the shade.  It’s a complex life Charlie leads.

We also visited grandma and took care of her dog, Scooter’s, flea problem, which reminds me that I wanted to tell you all how amazing Advantix II is!  Charlie and Oliver received a dose on Monday and we went to see grandma and Scooter on Friday (he was swimming in fleas, gross I know) and both boys remained flea free, even after spending the night!!!  I highly recommend it if your doggo sees other dogs or goes to the dog park.  I’m definitely not a vet though, so ask yours if it’s right for your dog.  Hopefully Scooter is better fast!

While we were at grandma’s I tried out a new to me product, Kodiak Cakes.

I see the hungry runner girl post about this mix a lot so I really wanted to try them!  Let me tell you they were delicious.  I didn’t snap any photos of the pancakes, but I did decide I wanted to create a recipe with them.

So I made ‘Protein Packed Pumpkin Spice Banana Muffins.’  They were super easy to make, and turned out delicious!

Dog park

This post will be super brief, the reason being that I just finished an incredibly daunting task….drum roll please….I just organized all the photos on my computer.  It took me four hours, but it was so worth it.  Now all of my photos are in neat little folders with names like, “San Francisco 2013” or “Florida 2012.”  It was also very enjoyable seeing all the old photos and being nostalgic (I love that kind of shit).

At any rate, I wanted to talk a little bit about something I have liked to do for the last seven years.  Seven years is how long I have had my beloved Charlie:

**Holy crap, finding that photo was soooo much easier**

If there is one thing Charlie loves more than me (because let’s be honest, he loves the crap out of me), it’s the dog park.

Charlie gets this big long drool going, and walks around trying to find anything that he can hump.  I found out that it might actually be a problem, because his humping means that he wants to dominate everyone at the park.  We’re working on it.  In October of last year we brought this little joy into our lives:

Meet Oliver James :)
Meet Oliver James 🙂

And now we have two dogs that love the dog park.  They’re still working on enjoying the dog park together, Oli likes to jump at Charlie’s face and bite his ears and legs.  Charlie ignores Oli and tries to find dogs to hump.  It’s a sweet family dynamic we’ve got going on; although, sometimes you find those beautiful moments:

“Wait Charlie, wait for me!”
This is where Oliver pretends to like water so he can hang out with Charlie.

I wouldn’t change our weekend Dog park tradition.  My favorite park is Marymoore, it’s over on the east side, but it’s huge and has multiple entrances into the water.  There’s even a doggy washing place right outside of the main entrance.  Love our little doggy family 🙂

"I'll be the big spoon Charlie!!"
“I’ll be the big spoon Charlie!!”

Hope you had a great weekend!!  I’m off to watch some Game of Thrones.

Be well.
